President and CEO, USVCC
USVCC Teammates –
In these very challenging times, the United States Veterans Chamber of Commerce represents diversity and opportunity – it’s at the very core of our mission – and we stand against racism. Our Armed Forces and Veterans understand equal opportunity, the bonds of teamwork in a common cause, and freeing the oppressed better than any other group of Americans.
That sense of equality and right traces all the way back to the Civil War, when Soldiers of all races helped free 250,000 enslaved Americans in Texas following the issuance of General Order #3 abolishing slavery by Maj. Gen. Gordon Granger. We are the land of the free, and we must all remain mindful of treating everyone with dignity and respect.
We also continue to wish you good health and safety in these trying times. As we’ve noted previously, together we can weather any storm and there is tremendous work going on across the Veteran community to not only help each other but step up and help our neighbors. It has been our goal these last few months to keep our chamber members, and the larger USVCC community, informed about the importance of accessing Small Business Administration managed assets and programs to keep Veteran-owned businesses sustained in these difficult times. Stay tuned to updates on our website at usvcc.org.
As our at-large membership continues to grow, so does the value proposition for being a member. We are proud to work with our corporate sponsors at Caliber Home Loans, the largest VA lender in the United States, to offer upcoming informational sessions on Blue Water legislation regarding Agent Orange, VA home ownership, and topics that you call for – let us know what you’d like to see in our growing efforts to leverage online streaming informational sessions.
We recently partnered with Work Vessels for Vets (WVFV), a top rated 501c3 by Great NonProfits, to provide farm equipment for a disabled United States Air Force veteran. We are always looking for great partners to collaborate with, and Veterans who need direct assistance. If you know of a partner looking for national reach, or a Veteran in need, please be sure to reach out and let us know.
We are in the early days of summer, and despite the challenges of the pandemic and maintaining domestic peace, we recognize that this is a time of celebration and reflection for our nation’s service members. From Memorial Day through the Fourth of July weekend, our Veteran and Active Duty population is reminded of the importance of their service, and rightfully so. Please take the time to reflect on your own contributions to these United States – and be proud. We thank you.
